Communities of practice are particularly useful in a context of change marked by novelties and innovations, as they make it easier for members to adapt to unusual problems or situations that don’t quite match those described in the manuals.
By bringing practitioners together around specific themes, communities of practice enable them to better identify problems and exchange solutions, as well as reference models, tools and best practices. The knowledge exchanged is generally the result of experience and is often difficult to codify, but it is nonetheless essential for improving operational efficiency and skills.
